It was a Peugeot 203 that drove to victory in the inaugural RedEx Round-Australia Trial in 1953 – an event designed to push the limits of man and machine over a gruelling 6,500 miles of Australia’s roughest terrain. The win for Peugeot catapulted it to near-legend status in this country and cemented an enviable reputation for quality and reliability which it enjoys to this day. More recently, Peugeot won the World Rally Championship (WRC) three times back to back – from 2000 to 2002. Add to this its four consecutive wins in the tough Dakar Rally and achievements such as conquering the awe-inspiring Pike’s Peak hill climb in the USA, and Peugeot’s ability to triumph in harsh conditions is undisputed. So when it comes time to consider your next SUV purchase, you can rest assured that the lessons learned from these and many other experiences throughout our 120 year history have helped to create a vehicle that is equally at home in Coober Pedy as it is in Canberra. STUNNING LOOKS COME STANDARD Combining class-leading SUV technology with legendary Peugeot ride and handling. The 4007 is perfectly designed to travel anywhere in style and luxury. With a sporty front bumper and distinctive chrome-trimmed grille, the 4007 is a blend of style and substance. The athletic lines of the bonnet don’t simply look good, they’re designed to improve airflow and to enhance fuel economy. Featuring dramatic sweeping headlights and fog lights, the 4007 lets you see clearly in even the worst conditions. The expansive windows let the light flood into the cabin and the elegant alloy wheels make a style statement both on and off the road. Should you look at the 4007 from the rear you’ll see that the translucent rear light clusters are separated by a satin-finish aluminium panel bearing the Peugeot lion badge. The tail lights incorporate a fog light to ensure you’re clearly visible to those behind you in heavy weather. THE INSIDE STORY Step inside the 4007 and you’ll soon discover that you’re in new territory for a 4WD. The meticulously laid-out dashboard, with its chromerimmed deep-set dials, places all important functions and information at your fingertips. The leatherbound steering wheel incorporates remote audio and cruise control functions, while a central data display provides read-outs from the intelligent on-board computer. The generous cabin space and large windows make long trips a pleasure. And with ample pockets, cup holders and stow-away areas for all your belongings you’ll be able to ensure that everything has its own secure place. TAKE YOUR SEATS Total adaptability Anything’s possible inside the 4007’s comfortable cabin. Its flexible seating makes room for whoever or whatever you have in mind, carrying up to seven people in comfort if you make use of the two fold-away seats concealed in the boot floor*.(* Please refer to the Australian specification guide for availability.) Changing the configuration could not be simpler. You can unfold the extra seats in seconds – and it’s just as simple to fold them back down again when you need to open up all that load space. The second row of seats not only splits 60:40 but offers adjustable backrest angles to maximise comfort. Each part is also independently able to slide fore/aft over an 80mm range, enabling you to increase either the luggage space or second row legroom. THE 4WD THAT MAKES ROOM FOR YOU Whether you’re packing up the tent or the weekly shopping, the 4007’s boot has room to spare. If you’re using the 4007 as a 5-seater, you’ve got 589 litres of useable space under the luggage cover – and even more if you slide the back seats fully forward. For easy access there’s a split tailgate, the lower part of which can take up to 200kg – handy if you need to rest something on it while you’re loading up – and the load sill height is only 60cm. Need more space? Take the cover out and you’ve got up to 882 litres, floor to ceiling, to fill with whatever you want. Thinking really big? Simply flick the switches in the boot and both the seats in the second row get an electric push* to help you fold them forward. This then gives you an exceptional 1,691 litres of space for supersized loads. Now that’s a wide open space worth exploring. * Please refer to the Australian specification guide for availability.
